178 member Sikh delegation arrives from UK Pakistan

LAHORE: A group of Sikh pilgrims arrived here from London on Sunday via a PIA flight to visit their sacred places in the districts of Sheikhupura, Nankana and Narowal and attend the celebrations of the 550th anniversary of the birth of Baba Guru Nanak.

Shortly after landing, the 178-member group went to Gurdwara Janam Asthan Nankana Sahib and Gurdwara Sucha Sauda in Sheikhupura district.

Pilgrims will also participate in the 550 celebrations of the birth of Baba Guru Nanak in Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur, Narowal district.

The Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in Pakistan has announced that Baba Guru Nanak's birthday anniversary celebrations will continue throughout the month of November.

Sikh pilgrims from India, as well as from Europe and North America will attend various events to be held in this regard.

The main event, says the spokesman for the Board of Evacuated Trustees of Punjab, Amer Hashmi, will take place in Nankana Sahib on November 12.

Meanwhile, the first batch of some 1,100 Sikh pilgrims, along with a golden Palki, arrived here on Thursday across the Wagah border.

The Palki will be installed in Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur, in connection with the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak on Tuesday.
