Kerr 50 is one of MMA's original dominant heavyweights. Former fellow wrestling star earned his name in the early stages of his combat career by winning the 1997 consecutive UFC heavyweight tournament before moving to PRIDE. Better known as the “Smashing Machine,” Kerr made a 2000 decision to compile a full MMA record of 12-0 (1 NC) before the first loss to Japanese veteran Kazuyuki Fujita. Only three of his next 13 pro games have walked before moving away from the sport in 2009.
Known to be able to finish the fight maliciously, Kerr had a well-known addiction to painkillers throughout his MMA career. HBO aired a documentary on Kerr's life and journey through a counterattack in 2012 and talked about the struggle against addiction.
