LAHORE – The Punjab government has been advised to increase the annual renewal fee for firearms licenses with the aim of making the licensing system more effective, an official said.
The proposal sets the annual renewal fee for shotgun licenses at Rs25,000, while the annual fee for pistol and revolver licenses is set at Rs50,000.
A semi-automatic rifle license can be renewed for Rs100,000 per year, while the annual fee for an automatic rifle license is Rs250,000.
Once approved, all firearms license holders would have to pay updated fees each year, making license renewals much more expensive and aiming to increase regulation and oversight of licensed weapons, according to the report.
