As conflict in the Middle East continues to escalate, Iran’s top security official has made explosive claims linking U.S. lobbying activities linked to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein to a plot to carry out terrorist attacks similar to the September 11 attacks and falsely blame Tehran.
Ali Larijani, the secretary-general of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said in a post on
His comments come amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States. The United States and Israel have continued to attack Iranian targets, and Israel has also launched attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanon. Iran has fired several missiles at Israel and claimed to have attacked US military bases in Iraq and Kuwait.
Ali Larijani added that Tehran strongly opposes terrorism and does not consider the American public to be its enemy. “Iran is fundamentally opposed to such terrorist plots and does not wage war against the American people,” Ali Larijani said.
9/11 terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people
The September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks were one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in modern history. Nearly 3,000 people have been killed since 19 hijackers linked to Al Qaeda took control of four passenger planes in the United States, according to reports from Reuters and the Associated Press. Two of those planes flew straight into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. The crash caused a massive fire and collapsed both towers within hours.
Additionally, a hijacked plane crashed into the Pentagon, Virginia, the headquarters of the U.S. military. A fourth plane crashed near Shanksville as passengers tried to prevent another attack by hijackers. The attack destroyed much of the World Trade Center complex and damaged nearby buildings.
Tehran claims Epstein ties
Iranian officials and state media have repeatedly pointed out Epstein’s ties to Western political and business elites. Tehran has sought to strengthen these relationships in its ongoing confrontation with the United States and Israel.
US President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly called Epstein a ‘monster’, has been spotted taking several photos with the disgraced financier.
