US President Donald Trump said the US would tap ‘somewhat’ of its strategic oil reserves to lower energy prices amid chaos related to the US-Israel war with Iran.
Speaking in an interview with The Local 12 televisions President Trump said Wednesday in Cincinnati, Ohio, that limited use of reserves could help ease price pressures.
Asked if he planned to use the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, President Trump said, “Now we’re going to reduce it a little bit to lower the price.”
Trump also said the reserves would eventually be replenished.
“We’ll do that and then we’ll fill it in,” he told the Cincinnati Broadcasting Corporation. WKRC.
The President added, “Once we filled it, we will fill it again, but now we will reduce it a little so the price will go down.”
