Real American Freestyle presents another exciting fight between familiar names in mixed martial arts.
According to a press release from the promotion, former welterweight contender and White House hopeful Colby Covington will wrestle former BJJ ace and perennial hater Dillon Danis at RAF07 on March 28 at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida.
Covington vs. Danis will serve as the co-main event for the rematch between Arman Tsarukyan and Georgio Poullas. Their first fight, in late February, featured a lot of quasi-legal trash-talking from Poulas. Tsarukyan won by a score of 5-3 and then got revenge by hitting Poullas and starting a big fight.
Now the RAF is luring two fighters who allegedly sparked a fight in one night. It seems like Dillon Danis is fighting more than he legitimately competes in. He was countered by Islam Makhachev’s team in the stands at UFC 322 and brawled with Luke Rockhold backstage at Misfits Boxing 22. The press conference between Danis and KSI ended in a brawl! And in 2023, his boxing match with Logan Paul ended in a DQ due to unsportsmanlike conduct…
The only thing Danis does more than get into fights is get out of them. Danis has had five fights canceled over the years. Most recently, he withdrew from his MMA fight against Anthony Taylor at Misfits Mania after doctors deemed him unfit to compete due to a concussion he suffered during the UFC 322 brawl.
Will Danis actually step onto the mat to compete against Covington at RAF07 on March 28th? Can he handle one social interaction without a ton of people immediately jumping on him and bashing him online for being a punk? Whatever happens, we’re sure it’ll be interesting.
