Federal cabinet to skip two months’ pay as govt approves national austerity measures

ISLAMABAD – In line with the austerity measures, the federal cabinet has decided not to pay two months’ salaries.

A meeting chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was held to approve the country’s austerity policy.

The meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of all four states and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Azad through video link.

At the meeting, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb briefed participants on austerity measures. We were briefed on the need to conserve petroleum products in light of the global situation and on government-level austerity measures.

The meeting also discussed proposals to provide relief to deserving poor citizens. Shehbaz Sharif ordered a national austerity policy to be drawn up in consultation with local governments.
