If you’ve ever had a conversation with Copilot, clicked on a link, and then spent a few minutes trying to find your way back, you know exactly how devastating that experience can be. Every time you open a link, it launches your browser, interrupts your workflow, and suddenly you’re juggling tabs in two separate apps.
It’s a small inconvenience that can add up quickly, and we’re glad Microsoft is addressing it with a new update to the Copilot app for Windows.
Don’t jump beyond your browser anymore
Links you click inside Copilot now open in a side pane right next to the conversation, keeping everything in one place. No extra browser windows, no context switching, and no losing your train of thought.
But Microsoft didn’t stop there. With your permission, Copilot can now read the context of the tabs you open within a conversation. So if you’re researching scope across multiple tabs, you can ask Copilot to summarize, compare information, or help you write a first draft. Your tabs are saved with your conversation, so you can pick up where you left off.

You can go one step further and enable password synchronization to make it easier to get your work done without disrupting your flow.
More than just browser fixes
This update also improves the performance of the Copilot app, making it faster and more stable. Microsoft is also adding features like Podcasts and Learn & Learn mode on Copilot.com.
Microsoft says it’s temporarily removing some features to improve the experience, but that priority features will be brought back before the updated app becomes widely available.
This is a small but meaningful change that will improve your productivity and focus. Update versions 146.0.3856.39 and later are now rolling out to the Windows Insider channel and will gradually expand to Insiders globally.
