Former Defense Department official Laurie Buckhout is expected to win the Republican primary for North Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, according to Decision Desk HQ. Buckhout defeated four other Republican candidates: Asa Buck, Robert Hanig, Eric Rouse and Ashley-Nicole Russell. She will face a 2024 rematch with incumbent Rep. Don Davis (D-N.C.) in the November general election.
