Bitcoin fell to its lowest level in more than a year this week, falling to $63,000 on Thursday, about half of its all-time high of $126,000 set in October 2025.

This is part of a larger impact on cryptocurrency prices. Ether, the second largest cryptocurrency, has lost more than 30% this year alone.

The months-long decline in cryptocurrency prices has further deepened stock market jitters, sending shares of companies increasingly investing in Bitcoin plummeting. Global cryptocurrency markets have lost $2 trillion in value since early October, according to CoinGecko data. Meanwhile, the value of gold has surged as investors seek safe haven assets.
