In 2021, Annapurna Bhairi accused the director of Marathi TV show Sahakutumb Sahaparivar and her co-artists of harassing, mentally torturing her and even provoking her to attempt suicide. Annapurna has accused the show’s lead actress Nandita Patkar of belittling her on several occasions and said in an interview:
One day, the bathroom wasn’t cleaned so I asked him to clean it after I used it, and he just said, “I won’t do it. If you want to clean it, you can clean it. It’s not my duty.”
Annapurna also claimed that Nandita and the show’s directors constantly ridiculed her because of her South Indian roots. She also accused actress Kishori Ambiye of making derogatory comments and said:
Nandita Patkar and I were sharing a room on the sets and later Kishori joined us. When Kishori first entered the room, he looked at me and said, “Are the junior artists in your room ko bhi diya hi kya?” (Is this room also assigned to junior writers?)
