Lisa is an AI bot developed by Odisha Television Limited (OTV), a popular Odia news network in India. Lisa is said to be India’s first AI-powered Odia news anchor. As a pioneering Odia AI, Lisa plans to usher in a new era in news broadcasting. In a video posted by OTV on Twitter, Lisa confidently introduces herself and expresses her enthusiasm for this important event. The news network says she will soon begin hosting news updates, demonstrating her abilities as an AI news anchor. Lisa in particular has impressive multilingual skills, being able to communicate in Odia, English, and other languages.

On July 9, 2023, Odisha Television Limited (OTV) introduced Lisa, the state’s first AI news anchor, joining the growing number of companies using artificial intelligence (AI) to improve service delivery. At a press conference attended by numerous respected industry dignitaries, the company’s promoter and managing director, Jagi MANgat Panda, introduced Lisa to the guests and warmly welcomed her as the newest member of the OTV family. In his introduction, Jagi MANgat Panda highlighted Lisa’s important role in providing daily news updates, especially in special segments covering news from Odisha, India and around the world. Mr. Radhamadhab Mishra, Senior Editor of OTV and Litisha MANgat Panda, Head of Digital Business attended the launch event along with Jagi Panda. They spoke with Lisa in English as well as Odia. Odisha Television Limited (OTV) has partnered with a Mumbai-based startup to develop Lisa AI and said that after launching Lisa on July 9, 2023, the AI-based news anchor Lisa will start presenting news updates for the channel by the end of this month.
