According to the report, Vidya submitted forged experience documents and certificates on June 2, 2023, while interviewing for the post of Malayalam guest lecturer at RGM Government College of Attappady in Palakkad district. The matter came to public attention on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, when RGM University authorities sent Vidya’s experience certificate to the Maharaja College principal after questions were raised about the authenticity of the certificate. According to reports, Vidya had earlier worked at Karinthalam College in Kasaragod from June 2022 to March 2023 utilizing the same fake certificate. The incident was reported in the media as another controversy involving Prime Minister Arsho, who is the state secretary of Students Federation of India (SFI). It is revealed that Arsho’s report card indicates that he passed the exam at Maharaja’s College without actually taking the exam. Arsho, a master’s student in archeology, faced charges after explaining that he had not written any papers during his third semester exams. Maharajah University authorities concluded that the incident was caused by a software error in the National Information Center (NIC). The principal of Maharaja College confirmed that Vidya had produced forged documents in the name of the college and that she had not employed a single person as a visiting professor in the Malayalam department in the last 10 years. In response, Maharaja College authorities filed a complaint against Vidya. Ernakulam Central Police filed a case against Vidya on a petition filed by Maharaja College authorities where Vidya was using forged experience documents. Vidya stated that she worked as an assistant professor on a contractual basis in the university from June 2018 to March 2019 and from June 2020 to March 2021.

According to the FIR report, the charges registered are sections 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) and 471 (use of document or electronic record knowing to be forged) of the Indian Penal Code. The case was later transferred to Agali Police Station with RGM University taking jurisdiction. On Wednesday, June 21, 2023, police detained Vidya from Meppayur in Kozhikode. Vidya was taken from her friend’s house in Meppayur around 7pm. Police said they nabbed Vidya using cell phone calls and her friends’ tower location.
Reservation list manipulation
According to reports, the SC/ST cell of Kalady Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University related to K Vidya’s PhD admission indicated that the reservation list was manipulated during the 2020 admission process. The report also showed the involvement of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office in the matter. This led Dr. Bichu Malayil to withdraw from his academic association with K Vidya during his PhD studies at the university unless Vidya proved her innocence. According to the report, Vidya used forged experience certificates from Government Arts and Science College, Kinanoor, Karindalam, Kasaragod, to secure guest lecturer posts.
