McConnell, Pelosi decline Trump administration offer of rapid coronavirus tests for Congress

In a joint statement on Saturday, Congressman Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) declined to offer Trump's congressional members a quick offer of a coronavirus test.

“The Capitol is grateful for the generous proposal to distribute the rapid COVID-19 test function to Capitol Hill, but at the moment, we are refusing it with respect. "Our country's testing capabilities continue to expand across the country, and Congress wants to continue to deliver resources to the forefront facilities that can do the fastest."

Minister of Health and Welfare Alex Azar tweeted late on Friday 1,000 tests and 3 quick results test machines were available. The president tweeted that there was “a tremendous coronavirus test capability for senators” to report to Washington D.C. today.
