KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court on Thursday ordered the proclamation and seizure of property by the London-based founder of Muttahida Qaumi and Altaf Hussain, and four workers in a case related to the alleged murder of two activists from the rival Pak Sarzameen party.
The MQM chief along with eight suspects detained and fugitives have been reserved for their alleged involvement in the murder of PSP workers Naeem Ramzan and Azhar Rehmatullah in a firearm attack at the party office in the colony of Usmania on 23 December 2018.
On Thursday, the matter was brought before the ATC-XII judge. A total of 10 suspects were produced from prison.
The investigating officer presented a compliance report indicating that the arrest warrants not issued by the court against Altaf Hussain, Asif Mian Siddiqui, aka Badshah; M. Jameel, aka Kashif; M. Asad Khan, aka Umar; M. Saleem, aka Belgium and Junaid, aka Owais could not be executed since their whereabouts could not be determined and there was no possibility of his arrest in the near future.
The judge took the registered report and ordered the OI to initiate the process of proclamation and seizure of property of the fugitives under sections 87 and 88 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to fork the matter against him and initiate a trial against the detained suspects, who were told the defense lawyer to hire.
The IO was told to submit a compliance report until February 3.
The court also issued a notice to the I / O Inspector Aijaz Ahmed Memon and the state prosecutor to argue about the bail request filed by the suspect Bisma on February 10.
According to the charge sheet, the detained and fugitive suspects carried out an armed attack in the rival PSP's office following the instructions of the MQM pro-Altaf faction.
