The promise of the Google Pixel series is that you can get years of software updates on the day they're released. However, it seems I finally found out how long the update will last. Google confirmed that the original Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL will receive final software updates in December three years after the launch of the phone.
According to Google, phones won't be offered a security update in November, but the December update will include various fixes and security patches.
It's no surprise that your phone isn't updating anymore. Originally, Google promised that Pixel would receive a two-year Android version update and a three-year security update. Google went a step further by introducing Android 10 into Pixel and Pixel XL, providing additional version updates.
The original Google Pixel and Pixel XL may seem a bit older than smartphones in 2019, but in 2016 there was a lot to offer when it was first released. The device ran on the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor at the time, with 4GB RAM and 32GB or 128GB storage. A year later, they were replaced by Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, and this was also well received. The Google Pixel 3 was a solid phone, but the Pixel 3 XL was criticized for its notch, and the Pixel 4 was just released in mid-October.
You have to wait for time to receive updates from other Pixel phones. Originally, Pixel was using Android 10, but there is no guarantee that additional updates will apply to Pixel 2 on Android 11, Pixel 3 on Android 12, or Pixel 4 on Android 13.
As mentioned, the latest Pixel series is the Pixel 4, which offers a variety of features not previously seen on smartphones. In particular, the device offers radar technology that allows you to control your phone without touching the phone using wireless-based gestures. This phone also uses continuous conversation and is the first person to have an updated version of Google Assistant with camera updated.
