Nawaz Sharif’s condition not satisfactory: doctors – Pakistan

Services The medical superintendent of Lahore Hospital, Dr. Saleem Shahzad Cheema, said that the platelets of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have increased, but not to the normal level.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Dr. Cheema said the former prime minister was not medically fit. He also said that the number of platelets in Nawaz's blood has not increased to a satisfactory level.

He added that Nawaz was forced to walk today so doctors could know if he could travel or not.

Other doctors say the former prime minister is not in good condition, so he remains in the hospital, he said, adding that Nawaz Sharif can make a request if he wants to leave the hospital.

Nawaz Sharif will be declared fit after his platelet count increases to more than 150,000, the MS said.

Dr. Cheema also said that Nawaz was given steroids to solve kidney related problems. He also said that Nawaz's blood sugar level has increased from 200 to 375.

Early in the day, Nawaz's family doctor, Dr. Adnan Khan, visited Twitter to share updates on Nawaz's health. He said the condition of the former prime minister remains "critical."

"The treating doctors tried to reduce the dose of steroids given to him, but unfortunately it resulted in a decrease in platelet count that decreased yesterday," he said.

"The cause must be diagnosed and established without delay."

The former prime minister had been transferred to the hospital from the custody of the National Office of Accountability (NAB) Lahore on October 21 after Dr. Khan aroused the alarm.

Initially, Nawaz was reluctant to go to the hospital. However, he later agreed to be treated at the Services Hospital when his younger brother Shahbaz Sharif, who was especially called there, persuaded him.

On Tuesday, the High Court of Islamabad had granted bail to Nawaz, suspending his seven-year sentence in the Al-Azizia corruption reference for medical reasons. Previously, Nawaz had obtained a bond in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case of Lahore High Court, also for medical reasons.
