The Superior Court of Peshawar (PHC) on Thursday ordered bail of Mufti Kifayatullah, central leader of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).
Kifayatullah was arrested by Islamabad police on Sunday accused of inciting people to participate in the anti-government "Azadi March" on October 31 and collect donations for the protest.
A bank of two members of the upper court based in Abbottabad, composed of Judge Ijaz Anwar and Judge Shakeel Ahmad, heard the bail petition filed by JUI-F.
Kifayatullah will be released once court orders reach Haripur Central Jail, where he is imprisoned. Once free, he will join the caravan that goes to Islamabad to participate in the JUI-F protest.
The arrest of the JUI-F leader came one day after the signing of an agreement between the government and the opposition led by the JUI-F regarding the headquarters of the Azadi March in Islamabad.
