Hess, Chevron make Gulf of Mexico discovery with Esox well

Hess Corp. and Chevron teamed up to announce a new discovery of the Gulf of Mexico on the Esox-1 test near the existing Tubular Bells field in the Deep Sea.

This discovery will lead to an extension project in essence. New York-based Hess and Chevron will develop the region as a low-cost tieback project by connecting new wells through pipelines and subsea umbilicals to a tubular bell facility about six miles west of the Esox-1 well.

The first Esox well will be available online in early 2020.

“We are delighted with the success of Esox well, demonstrating the value of infrastructure-driven exploration programs in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico,” said John Hess, chief executive officer.
