Developers of SliceCharge and SliceCharge Pro are preparing to offer NuType, the first mechanical keyboard designed for MacBook.
NuPhy is designed to physically place the mechanical keyboard on the built-in keyboards of MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro. It is "locked" in place using the notch between the laptop keys at the bottom. It does not extend over the function keys or touch bar.
This mechanical keyboard is aimed at you on the go. At home or in the office, many MacBook owners can use the traditional full-size external keyboard instead of the internal keyboard. But after going out, the bulky keyboard is not ideal. This is especially true when used with mice, stands and other accessories.

The company told Digital Trends, “The keyboard can be inconvenient when working on a laptop outdoors. “This inconvenience is especially noticeable on modern MacBooks. It makes the mechanical keyboard much smaller and can also be used on mobile devices. This is the origin of NuType. ”
Many MacBooks today have a "butterfly" switch. The design has a hinge in the middle to form a "V" that is easy to collect dust, dirt and food particles. Despite Apple's efforts to eliminate the third generation and failure rates, the butterfly core issue persists.
Mechanical switches do not share this design. Instead, there are stems, coil springs and cross point contacts. It's usually loud and gives tactile feedback, and is the same as the "X" design commonly used on most laptops.
NuType's target market uses Kaihua's Choc low profile switches. It features a “box” design that wraps the stems to prevent dust, moisture and time exposure. NuPhy says it's 42{7be40b84a6a43fc4fae13304fce9a2695859798abfc41afd127b9f8b21c5f9c5} smaller than a standard mechanical switch.
NuType's overall design complements the MacBook but is compatible with Surface Pro, Surface Book, and Surface Laptop. A SmartCase cover is included that connects to the keyboard using a magnet and folds into a stand.
For customers who don't own a MacBook or Surface device, this portable mechanical keyboard is compatible with Bluetooth enabled devices such as iPad Pro or Windows 10 desktops.
NuPhy's crowdfunding project for NuType will begin on November 11.
