Continuing political disputes to spell doom for Imran: Shahbaz – Pakistan

Continuing political disputes to spell doom for Imran Shahbaz

LAHORE: The opposition leader in the National Assembly, Shahbaz Sharif, warned Prime Minister Imran Khan of reprisals if the (political) disputes continue in the country.

Meanwhile, a further drop in platelet count on Sunday from a position of optimism was cause for concern for doctors treating former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the Hospital for Services.

"If Imran Khan does not refrain from continuing his policy of disputes and controversies, then he will not find the opportunity to flee the country," the PML-N president warned the prime minister at an event held here in Model Town on Sunday to show solidarity with the people of Kashmir controlled by India.

A PML-N leader refutes media reports about the plan to move Nawaz abroad

Shahbaz expressed the belief that the country would obtain Kashmir without problems by strengthening its economy, and recalled that East Germany was forced to join with West Germany due to the latter's economic development.

He said that Kashmir would gain its freedom only when Nawaz Sharif was in power, since he had previously turned the country into a nuclear power by rejecting all the incentives offered by the United States and then brought prosperity to the country through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Meanwhile, the medical board that oversees Nawaz Sharif's health at the State Services Hospital is concerned about the fluctuating platelet count of the former prime minister.

His blood samples examined on Saturday showed that the platelet count had crossed the 45,000 mark, leading to the hope that his body has begun to generate platelets and his level will soon cross the 100,000 mark in a couple of days. But for board concerns, the count was reduced to 25,000 on Sunday.

The director of the medical board, Dr. Ayaz Mahmood, told the media that they had adjusted some Nawaz Sharif medications. When asked, he said Sharif would stay at the Hospital of Services until he asked to change to another health center he liked.

Nawaz a free man until 29

When a high-ranking PML-N leader was contacted, he refuted the reports circulating in the media about any plan to transfer Sharif abroad for treatment. The PML-N leader said Sharif was a free man until October 29, when the Islamabad High Court would return to the case. In addition, he said, according to doctors, Sharif could not travel due to his current state of health. He said that since the issue had not been discussed at any level, there was no truth in the reports that Sharif had refused to go abroad.

"Such speculation is intentionally spreading only to damage the image of the leadership of the PML-N and vanish the ongoing anti-government movement of the opposition," he lamented.
