Senior insurance company official commits suicide by jumping off building

A senior insurance company official, who allegedly faced an investigation into some "personal activities", allegedly ended his life by jumping from the 11th floor of a multi-story building in the I.I. from Karachi. Chundrigar Road, according to police and sources.

Zafar Iqbal, 55, served as administrative deputy director of the State Corporation of Life Insurance of Pakistan (SLIC) Building No. 2 in front of Habib Bank Plaza in I.I. Chundrigar Road.

His family disputed the claim that Iqbal had committed suicide and suggested that his death was a murder.

But the Superior Superintendent of City Police (SSP) Muquddus Haider told him Dawn That initial investigation and eyewitness accounts showed that Iqbal, father of four children, committed suicide.

The senior officer said that further investigations into the incident were being carried out because the family had disputed the police version.

According to SSP Haider, a guard deployed in the SLIC office tried to persuade Iqbal not to jump out of the building, but the latter did it anyway.

Another officer, the Mithadar Station House officer, Rizwan Patel, said they were waiting for a doctor's report to learn more about the death.

The body of the deceased was transferred to the Dr. Ruth Pfau Karachi Civil Hospital for autopsy.

A police source said Dawn Iqbal was reportedly "depressed" in recent times because the State Life authorities had initiated an investigation against his "personal conduct" in the office.
