JUI-F, PPP and PML-N finalise plans to mobilise public for Azadi March – Pakistan

RAWALPINDI: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), PPP and PML-N have finalized their public mobilization plan to join the Azadi March in Islamabad and the Rawalpindi division.

The parties have decided on a combined campaign to mobilize the public in different parts of the Rawalpindi division to participate in the march.

The head of JUI-F, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, said Sunday that the Rawalpindi chapters of the three parties held a meeting to discuss strategies to mobilize the public for the march.

Demonstrations to enter Rawalpindi from Rawat, Attock, says Fazl

Party leaders decided that they would take their workers to the march prepared for a sit-in, he said. They have also made plans on how to get people on the march if the government places shipping containers to intercept them.

Rehman said PML-N leaders said the party will continue working with the JUI-F until Prime Minister Imran Khan resigns.

They will continue to hold meetings for the next few days to continue planning according to their requirements, he said.

The Lahore and Peshawar demonstrations, among other parts of the country, will enter Rawalpindi from Rawat and the Attock bridge, Rehman said.

However, this is an initial plan and could be changed on October 29 or October 30; The march is scheduled to enter the capital on October 31.

"There are enough people in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad to fill Jinnah Avenue," Rehman said.

He said the Punjab police have not yet arrested JUI-F leaders, but they are pressuring party leaders using various means.

"Some prominent leaders were registered in cases of collecting skins from animals slaughtered in the past, and these cases were renewed now," he said.

Former PML-N MNA Malik Shakil Awan said Dawn that the party has made a plan to welcome the Azadi March in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, and four teams have been formed to protect the workers of the party.

"The PML-N metropolitan president, Sardar Naseem, and I will address former presidents of the union councils and city workers, former MNA Malik Abrar will address the elected members of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board and the workers of cantonment, while Daniyal Chaudhry will lead the Chaklala cantonment board and cantonment workers. " he said.

The JUI-F had initially told the PML-N that the PML-N would join the march on Murree Road and other parts of the city after it entered Rawalpindi, he said, adding that worker mobilization has begun and the leaders have been asked to avoid arrest.

Party leadership has asked party workers to join the march, and their presence will be checked, he said. Mr. Awan said a party leadership monitoring team will notice the presence of all local readers.

The secretary general of the PPP chapter Rawalpindi, Chaudhry Iftikhar, said the PPP was ready to participate and will soon launch a workers mobilization campaign.

"We have asked the workers to meet in Rawalpindi and Islamabad to close the area if the police stop them," he said.

Local leaders and MPAs have been assigned points where they should lead workers to protest in case of police action against the main demonstration.
