Ratna Singh joined the Indian Parliament in 1991. In February 1996, she was appointed Secretary-General of the Uttar Pradesh Congress (UCC). In 1996, she was elected the 11th Lok Sabha in the Pratapgarh Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh. After being elected to parliament she was included in the parliamentary executive committee.
In 1999 she was re-elected to the 13th Lok Sabha at Pratapgarh. She competed again in the 2004 general election, but lost to Akshay Pratap Singh of Jansatta Dal. In 2009, Ratna Singh was re-elected as the 15th Lok Sabha at Pratapgarh. In September 2009, he was elected a member of the Defense and Finance Committees. She appeared in the 2014 general election, but lost to Harivansh Singh of Apna Dal.
