
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, on the third day of their five-day trip to Pakistan, visited the foothills of the Hindu Kush mountain range to witness the effects of climate change, one of the key areas Focus of your visit.
After visiting Broghil, they traveled to the village of Bombaret in the Kalash Valley.
In the Kalash Valley, the royal couple met with locals and spent time with children. They also enjoyed performances of traditional dances and music by local people.
A cap traditionally worn by Kalasha women was given to the duchess.
A large number of locals, including women, had received the royal couple upon reaching the valley. Security arrangements made for the visit were made.
"They were very happy, knowing each other and shaking hands with everyone," said a district administration official about William and Kate, adding that the couple was also very interested in the Kalash culture.
Earlier on Wednesday, royalty had flown from Islamabad in a helicopter from Pakistan's army to Chitral, where they were given traditional hats and a photo book commemorating the trip of William's mother, Diana, who visited the valley in 1991 .
"Fantastic," said the prince as he checked the pages of the book. The residents also gave an embroidered coat to Prince William and a shawl to Kate.
British royalty traveled by helicopter to the Chiatibo glacier in the Broghil Valley National Park to see the effects of climate change in one of the world's most glacial areas.
Residents of the region have been sounding the alarm about melting glaciers, which caused devastating floods in 2015 that left thousands of families camping outdoors just as another cold winter was approaching.
The Duke of Cambridge called the melting of the glaciers an "imminent catastrophe" in a speech delivered at a bright reception in Islamabad on Tuesday night.
William and Kate flew back to Islamabad after completing their visit to the region.
The Duke and Duchess arrived in Pakistan on Monday night during their inaugural visit.
