Interior minister sees no threat to govt – Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: By calling those who plan to march on the enemies of Islamabad in the country, the retired Interior Minister, Brig Ijaz Ahmed Shah, has ruled out any threat to the government.

Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the ICT Facilitation Center of the ICT (Territory of the Capital of Islamabad) on Tuesday, he said that governments could not be removed because of unjustified demands. He said that the moment of the head of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Maulana Fazlur Rehman was inappropriate, while the situation during Imran Khan's sitting was completely different.

The Interior Minister noted that Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure had been imposed in the Islamabad Red Zone and made it clear that no one would be allowed to enter the area to launch a protest.

"I think Fazlur Rehman will not come to Islamabad on October 27," he said.

He praised Imran Khan as the first prime minister of Pakistan who spoke about the "state of Madina".

Before the start of the cabinet meetings, he said, Imran Khan asked each minister about the initiatives taken by his ministries for public welfare.

He says that the Maulana will not come to Islamabad on 27

Shah lashed out at Nawaz Sharif, wondering what people have accomplished by making him prime minister three times.

Before opening the special desk at the Facilitation Center for Pakistanis abroad, the minister praised the efforts of the ICT police to establish the center in modern lines.

He said the government had established a special desk to solve the problems of Pakistanis abroad. The special counter would offer expatriates a comprehensive solution to their problems, including vehicle verification and the provision of driver's licenses and a copy of the First Information Report presented at any police station.

He added that four other citizen facilitation centers would be established in the federal capital to ensure the rapid resolution of public problems through a single window solution.

He said the Capital Development Authority and the Islamabad police were taking several initiatives aimed at public facilitation and solving their problems instantly.

In response to a question, Shah said the ICT police center was recruiting more traffic personnel in the Islamabad Traffic Police to ensure a smooth flow of traffic on the capital's roads.

He said the government was introducing reforms in the seminars and introducing the curriculum that would help them become a constructive part of society. "We are only adding subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English and History in the madaris study program," he answered another question.

Syed Zulfikar Bukhari, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis, said a special desk for expatriates was established at the facilitation center to ensure a rapid resolution of the problems of overseas Pakistanis. The initiative, he said, was taken by the Ministry of Overseas Development and Human Resources in collaboration with the ICT police.

He said officials of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) had been appointed at the special desk to establish strong connectivity between the departments concerned to resolve the complaints of expatriates on the fast track. The measure was part of the efforts made by the government to facilitate expatriates, in addition to encouraging their investments in real estate, he added.

Bukhari said the ministry had also drafted rules to establish fast-track courts in Islamabad that would help resolve property disputes by Pakistanis abroad in a matter of months.

In informing participants, the Islamabad police inspector general, Mohammad Amir Zulfiqar, said the citizen could benefit from the established centers of 13 documents related to police departments. He said the counter set up for Pakistanis abroad was the first of its kind where expatriates' complaints would be addressed along with the perpetration of documents related to police departments.
