German Scholarship (Deutschlandstipendium)
The German National Scholarship Program is offered by TUM for both our students and business partners. With this support, young talent can take full advantage of their potential. In addition, the sponsor will know future professionals and managers with excellent training at an early stage. In TUM, this exchange works well, especially because industry and dedicated foundations are traditionally closely related to universities.
German scholarships include 300 Euro per month for personal achievement. TUM is interested in students taking responsibility and mastering their own way of life.
Only students who have been admitted or enrolled in TUM are eligible for the German Scholarship. Excludes exchange students enrolled when staying abroad at Tum. International students enrolled in or enrolled in TUM can also receive German scholarships.
All TUM students can apply as long as they do not exceed the formal standardized learning period. The support period is usually 12 months, but basically it can be extended after reapplying. Financing time limits are limited by the standard learning period of the learning program.
International Student Scholarship
TUM awards scholarships to international students funded through the Bavarian government's budget resources. One-time financial assistance from € 500 to € 1,500 per semester. Students can apply for a scholarship every semester.
The target group is regular international students at TUM.

Oskar Karl Forster Scholarship for Books and Study Materials
Oskar Karl Forster Scholarship provides books and study aids for needy and talented students studying at TUM for at least two semesters. Eligible students are those who have received a university entrance certificate in Germany and abroad and have completed at least two semesters of undergraduate or graduate programs at TUM. In addition, the eligibility requirements for this scholarship are:
- Academicly outstanding or showing financial needs
- Low income (need proof required)
- Not receiving prior financial support from Oskar Karl Forster Scholarship Fund
Oskar Karl Forster Scholarship Thesis Cost
Oskar Karl Forster Scholarship supports the cost of printing papers to foreigners who are Bildungsinländer and BAföG qualified. Oskar Karl Forster scholarship dissertation printing costs are available for PhD students at TUM and range from a minimum of 100 euros to a maximum of 500 euros.
To receive this scholarship, the student's dissertation must be at least "magna cum laude". Students who wish to receive this scholarship should not have a higher income than the scholarship of the Law for Promotion of Young Scientists and Artists (currently 1,400 euros per month) in the last six months.
Nicolaus Pond (Nicholaus Scholarship)
The TUM Nicolaus Scholarship Fund offers financial support for student travel and a single scholarship for TUM students. This is a one-time scholarship between € 150 and € 450. The scholarship provides current enrolled undergraduate and graduate students with a certificate of admission to universities in Germany and abroad.
Qualified students from the TUM Nicolaus Scholarship Fund are those who have proved financially necessary and have completed at least four semesters in TUM's undergraduate or graduate program.
Roche Scholarship
TUM offers Loschge scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students in mechanical engineering in thermal engineering. Scholarships are up to € 550 per month.
Loschge scholarship selection is based on admission. Students applying for a scholarship must already be enrolled in the TUM.
Scholarship Options for Staying Abroad
If you are staying abroad for study, study or internships, there are various support programs for European and non-European countries. TUM's International Center offers numerous scholarship programs to support study and internships in Europe or around the world.
- Foreign scholarships for internships and self-organized learning visits
This scholarship can be registered for German students, Bildungsinländer and BAaföG-qualified TUMs (except PhD students) and is available to foreigners with a gross income of less than € 15,000 in the year of application.
The scholarship consists of a monthly package of 300 euros for the actual length of stay, up to six months until January of the following year. The scholarship also includes a travel allowance (round trip) of € 1,000 outside Europe and € 500 within Europe.
- Erasmus + Scholarship
- Erasmus + Student Mobility Studies: The Erasmus + program provides financial support and no tuition fees at partner universities. Overseas semesters are automatically recorded on the Diploma Supplement. Overseas academic performance can be recognized in consultation with the faculty.
- Mobility for Erasmus + Students Internships and Practices: The Erasmus + program provides financial support for overseas internships to graduate and enrolled PhD students, as well as bachelor and master's program students. Scholarships vary by country and range from 400 euros to 520 euros per month. Internships are included in the Diploma Supplement.
- Erasmus + International Dimension: The Erasmus + program provides financial support for selected destinations of the TUMexchange program. This grant is awarded according to personal and socioeconomic standards.
- Borderless TUM
The International Center supports the academic activities of developing countries with travel permits. Funds will be provided to TUM staff and / or full-time students. In this way, you can support up to three applicants.
Travel costs (usually flight costs) are funded by TUM students and / or staff to:

- Short stay in developing countries (e.g., coordinating or commencing projects)
- Research is maintained in developing countries

- PROMOS (seminar thesis and final thesis)
The PROMOS program supports students completing seminar thesis and applying for up to six months at universities, companies and scientific institutions outside the Erasmus + area. Successful applicants receive a lump sum of 300 euros per month, travel allowance, balance distribution and lump sum once the results of the application are announced.
- PROMOS (Travel and Competition Travel)
The PROMOS program provides subsidies to countries within and outside Europe by participating in thematic research and competition-related travel (group travel). This scholarship is available to German and international students enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program at TUM. Scholarships include grants of € 30 per participant per day within the EU and € 45 per participant outside the EU.
- Swiss European Mobility Program
This is a scholarship offered for studying abroad, internships or graduation and is a semester paper in Switzerland.
DAAD Scholarship
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers a variety of exchange programs and internships for specific sectors of selected countries and / or institutions (e.g. RISE (Science and Engineering Research Internships) for computer scientists weltweit or IFI programs for international research) .
Leonhard Lorentz Foundation
The purpose of the Leonhard Lorenz Foundation is to encourage scientific research at the Technical University of Munich. Research projects of young scientists are specially considered in the awarding process. Funds will be allocated only for individually separated research projects, especially if:
- Research grants (e.g. equipment, small appliances, assistant staff, travel expenses and other expenses)
- Sub-study travel and study stay, presenting findings at conference
- Does not cover applicant's living expenses and other labor costs
- The cost of travel for a PhD student can only be applied if it is very justifiable and you cannot receive a grant from TUM-GS
- Students who have not yet started a doctorate are not eligible.
Scholarships can be up to 1,500 euros for participation in conferences and up to 5,000 euros for research projects.
