Pakistan's central additional general secretary Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Abu Hassan Ansari, resigned Monday after developing differences with former secretary general Jahangir Tareen on the constitution of the party, PTI sources said.
Hassan is the author of the PTI 2019 constitution and party sources said DawnNewsTV that Tareen, who does not have an official position in the party, was forcing him to amend the constitution according to his recommendations. The two also had multiple verbal disputes during the party meetings.
According to sources close to Hassan, he believes Tareen has taken over the party. "Although Tareen spent his money for the party, we all spent our time and money for the PTI," a source said, citing it.
Hassan submitted his resignation to the PTI chief organizer, Saifullah Niazi, party sources said, adding that no decision has been made on the resignation, as PTI chief minister Imran Khan told senior officials of the party that will deal with the matter after his return from China. .
"In view of the controversy created in the leadership of the party following the meeting of the Constitution Review Committee, I consider it appropriate to submit my resignation to the post of Additional Secretary General to pave the way for someone more suitable for the changing environment," the resignation letter is read, the text of which was seen by DawnNewsTV.
"I would like to thank you and all colleagues in the central government body for the greatest respect and cooperation," said the brief letter sent to the head organizer.
