Popular food truck El Topo to open brick-and-mortar location in West University

Popular food trucks are getting brick and mortar.

El Topo will open the space occupied by Pizza Modus at 6119 Edloe later this year.

Chef owner Tony Luhrman said, “We've been looking for a while.

Luhrman started his business partners / agents Mike Serva and El Topo at the end of 2015.

Urban Harvest Farmers Market or St. Food trucks, usually parked at John & # 39; s, have achieved great results thanks to representative tacos made from homemade tortillas, seasonal produce and proteins made by local ranchers.

“We cooked for Alice Cooper, Pixies, Morrissey,” Luhrman said.

According to Luhrman, the 45-seat 1,800-square-foot West University restaurant will offer some new items cooked using the skills and traditions of the Southern, Mexican and Frontier Cooking Schools, as well as tacos, Luhrman says.

"We look forward to serving the city with breakfast, lunch and expensive dinner in early December."

Breakfast rates include breakfast tacos and pastries, and lunch menus include tacos, small dishes made of seasonal vegetables, and sandwiches served with homemade bread.

For dinner, you'll get a pop-up menu from El Topo and a tasting menu like lamb baba koa cooked from banana leaves, with fresh corn and sauce.

This bar offers a list of carefully selected wines and beers and home-made kombucha, and the walking window allows customers to pick up food including barbacoa and homemade tortillas and salsa in pounds.

Luhrman said, “My wife was very supportive. I could not do this without her. Mike's wife was also very helpful. "This restaurant will strengthen our business and community ties. It will be a place for our family to come and eat."
