Khursheed shifted to Sukkur, may appear in court today – Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The main leader of the People's Party of Pakistan (PPP), Syed Khursheed Shah, who was arrested by the National Responsibility Office (NAB) allegedly for possessing assets beyond the media, was transferred from Islamabad to Sukkur on Friday .

According to sources, the PPP leader was taken to the airport by a NAB team amid strict security measures and transferred to Sukkur by a Pakistan International Airlines flight (PK-631) at 7 am. Shah will be presented to a court in Sukkur.

The accountability court in Islamabad had approved its temporary detention on Thursday and ordered NAB to present it to the corresponding court before September 21.

Previously, the PPP leader was transferred to the Federal Government Services Hospital, also known as Polyclinic, after he complained about some health problems. He was discharged from the hospital at night and taken to the airport.

Speaking to reporters at the hospital, Shah rejected the NAB's claim that he was involved in 500 billion rupees of corruption and said he was ready to hand over all his wealth to the office if it was shown that even one percent of This amount had been given to him illegally.

Shah was arrested Wednesday by a joint team at the NAB Rawalpindi and Sukkur offices allegedly for possessing assets beyond the media.

The PPP leader dismissed the corruption accusations against him and said he had fought corruption throughout his life.

Shah, who served as the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly during the mandate of the previous government, said he had declared his assets before the Electoral Commission of Pakistan and that there was nothing in his name or that of his dependents. .

During the medical examination at the hospital, it was observed that Mr. Shah's sugar level was high and that he had respiratory problems. His blood pressure was said to be normal, but his heartbeat was more than normal.

Meanwhile, PPP secretary general Nayyar Hussain Bukhari met Khursheed Shah in the hospital.

Speaking to reporters there, Bukhari said they were asking questions about NAB's performance as some leaders of Pakistan's Tehreek-i-Insaf ruler had informed people about NAB's actions against Shah one day before his arrest.

He said opposition leaders were arrested at the investigation level, while no leader of the ruling alliance was arrested even after submitting references against him in court.

"NAB is being used again as a tool to humiliate politicians and their sprained arms," ​​Bukhari added.
