Bose's new top-of-the-line 700 noise canceling headphones are about to become the new golden standard with new designs, new technologies and changing focus.
Sitting on top of £ 300 QuietComfort 35 II, the new £ 350 Noise Canceling Headphones 700 700, a long-time king of noise-cancelling cans, we're trying to change the more stable image of the Bose fired into a more modern and stylish one.
The outs lead to segmented headbands and folding arms, which gently slide outwards of the ear cups, providing a thinner, smoother metal band ending with two arms for height adjustment.
Stylish design to eliminate harsh lines, splices and breakages. Ear pads were also smoothed. Due to the shape of the ear cups, the headband with soft touch silicone pads is closer to the head. If you wear it forward, it will slip.
And they no longer ground in half. Instead, the ear cups rotate perfectly to fit the wedge shaped case, so the Bose is thinner at one end than the QC35 II, making it easier to fit in a flight bag. But not grounded means more difficult to squeeze into the bag every day without a case. I think it's a small step.
On the head is slightly heavier than the QC35 II. The ear pads are thinner and the ear cups are more windy, helping to keep your ears cool, but they have grasped the sides of your head visibly. They were comfortable for a long time, but not as comfortable and comfortable as the QC35.
Smooth controls
The controls have also been redesigned. The two buttons on the right use advanced Google Assistant or Alexa features like Google Assistant, Alexa or Siri to manage power, pairing and voice support.
The button on the left ear cup controls the noise reduction level. Press and hold to activate chat mode. Conversation mode allows you to talk with someone by sounding from the outside.
The new touch controls worked best on all headphones and worked reliably in bad weather, but not at all with non-touchable gloves. Double tap the Bose logo on the right ear cup to pause or play it. Swipe back and forth for track skipping and swipe up and down to adjust the volume. Swipe 7 times to go from minimum to maximum volume while continuing.
Connectivity with phones and tablets (both Android and iOS) was very solid. The headphones support Bluetooth 5, but only SBC and AAC audio codecs. AAC is perfect for Apple users because it's the highest quality iPhone or iPad can support, but Android or Windows PC users looking for advanced formats like Qualcomm's aptX series or Sony's LDAC should look elsewhere.
Audio latency control was good, and audio and video were perfectly synced with all major video apps and services, including YouTube, which often had trouble. The game showed some audio delay.
The Headphones 700 can connect to two devices at once, so you can watch videos on your iPad and then make calls from your mobile phone, etc. It was great on a mobile device, but when I connected it to a computer and a phone, I ran into audio problems at the same time.
You can pair hot swap with many devices using the Bose Music app, or manually disconnect and reconnect your device using Bluetooth settings.
Super noise reduction

The original QC35 takes noise reduction technology to the next level, and the Headphones 700 matches these technologies in favor of Sony's best, especially commuting, to handle wind noise better than anything else. Noise canceling is set to maximum, which is very effective and blocks or reduces even the most difficult of sudden or loud noises. The difference between the headphone 700 and the midrange model is day and night. You get what you pay for.
Bose has redesigned its noise reduction system for greater flexibility. You can now choose from 11 levels of maximum ambient noise-to-surface microphones that transfer ambient noise to headphones.
That means you want to be aware of the surroundings, like in a conversation in the office, but you can adjust the level without air conditioning or a computer. The ambient sound mode is also cut as above, which is more natural and open than other similar technologies I used.
Press the Noise Cancel button on the left ear cup to switch between 3 preferred noise canceling levels (0, 5, 10 by default). Each time you switch levels, start or release conversation mode, the noise canceling lamp goes up smoothly. It goes down again as if someone turns the big analog volume knob. Small details that make the whole experience more luxurious.
Good sound

Bose products always have a unique sound that has been proven to be fragmented by audiophiles. The headphone 700 is no different. If you don't like the sound of the QC35 or the original TriPort headphones, you won't like it.
In that case, the low-end punch is treated as balanced audio, so the sound is completely rounded and the treble is sharpened, making the track sparkle. Also, clinically almost separate tones are heard, so individual instruments and notes can be boldly erected without mashing.
The Headphones 700 can handle most music genres well with slightly wider listening and open sound than the QC35. Overall, these are the headphones that offer the most consistent and best sound you can buy with the Sony MX-1000M3.
There is no equalizer control yet, but Bose said it is developing a feature to adjust the sound of headphones as part of its new architecture.
Clear phone

Voice Assist and Voice Assist access are the new focus of Bose headphones. A series of microphones are used to remove beam shaping noise similar to smart speakers in speech. The result is a clean, loud voice pickup even in the loudest environments. If you make a lot of calls or always talk with Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri
20 hours battery life

The headphone 700 lasts up to 20 hours of charging and noise reduction when using Bluetooth, but longer when used via cable. Sony's MX-1000M3 lasts for 30 hours is not the best in the industry. Enough to sustain a week's commute or transatlantic flight.
It takes about 2.5 hours to charge via USB-C. This is considerably slow compared to fast charging smartphones. 15 minutes quick charge provides more than 3 hours of play time, which is convenient when you forget to charge.
observe

-
There is a string on the double bass when the power is turned on. It sounded annoying loud in a quiet environment.
-
Sometimes I tried the Bose Music app several times to connect to the headphones.
-
When using a wired connection, the volume of the headphones can be adjusted independently, making it easy to use as a headphones splitter for sharing gaming headsets or tablets
-
Inside the case there is a small pouch that can hold USB-C and analog headphone cables.
-
Bose no longer offers a plane headphone adapter in the box, but it's no longer needed.
-
The headphones support Bose AR, the company's audio augmented reality platform.
price
The Bose Noise Canceling Headphones 700 is priced at 349.95 pounds and is available in black or silver.
The Rose for the Bose QuietComfort 35 II costs £ 300 (now £ 260), Sony's £ 329 for the WH-1000XM3, £ 300 for the Beats Studio 3 Wireless, and cheaper models like Lindy's BNX-60 start at £ 90.
verdict
Bose Noise Canceling Headphones 700 (700) is transforming the company in an attempt to transition from a recognition that business travelers are buying to a design-driven luxury product with a £ 350 price tag.
They obviously look smoother and more expensive. It works smoothly, in and out of fading and sound modes, or even the best-in-class swipe touch controls.
It is also the best sound Bose headphones with consistent refined performance. You can remove audio files with Bose sound signature. Noise canceling is at its highest level, but now it can be adjusted to the sliding level available, and voice calls or voice assist controls are best in class. It's a good idea to talk a lot or talk with Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri.
But part of the perfect design is to remove the folding arm. The ear cups still rotate flat, but the headphones are harder to fit into a common commuter bag than the QC35. The ear cups feel wider and cooler when worn, but the headband is noticeably harder than the QC35, resulting in no comfort. It's still more comfortable for a long time than the core competition.
The Headphones 700 supports Bluetooth 5 for better connectivity and can be connected to two devices at once, making it very convenient but having trouble connecting to both a computer and a smartphone. I hope the update can solve these problems, but for now, everything works fine with mobile devices.
High-quality or low-latency Bluetooth audio formats other than SBC and AAC are a bit disappointing for non-Apple users and have a solid battery life of no more than 20 hours, but not best in class.
Although pricey, the Bose Noise Canceling Headphones 700 is one of the best headphones to buy. It doesn't change the market in the same way as the original QC35 in 2016.
Advantages : Superior user-adjustable noise canceling, best-in-class ambient sound, best-in-class voice call, great sound, excellent controls, good battery life, multi-point connectivity, comfortable, USB-C, improved Google Assistant support
Disadvantages : Expensive, no aptX etc, PC connection bug, not folding
