Apple reveals triple-camera iPhone; $5 monthly streaming TV undercuts Disney – World

Apple Inc met hardware rivals on Tuesday by revealing a triple-camera iPhone, and launched a TV streaming service priced at $ 5 a month, undermining Disney and Netflix.

The ads were presented at the company's biggest marketing event, where it presents its main products for next year, and showed an aggressive Apple ready to fight for the price.

The long-awaited Apple TV + television broadcast service will be available in more than 100 countries, starting in November. The service will not be available in China when it is launched, nor the subscription to the Apple Arcade video game.

Buyers of an iPhone, iPad or Mac will get a free year of TV broadcast, potentially attracting hundreds of millions of viewers to the service. That catapults the new service into a rare group of companies.

"I think the price of the Apple TV service was definitely a positive surprise," said Michael James, managing director of stock trading at Wedbush Securities in Los Angeles.

"That's why he is seeing the hammering in some of the other names related to the video service like Netflix, Amazon and Roku. Clearly, that was positive that people were happy to hear."

There was no package with Apple Music or other services as some analysts expected. But Ben Bajarin, an analyst at Creative Strategies, said the television service, an "Arcade" game service for $ 5 a month and the iPhone 11 base model, seems designed to attract long-term users.

"We did not expect Apple Arcade and particularly Apple TV to be priced as aggressively as they are," said Bajarin.

"They know that once consumers enter their ecosystem, they don't leave."

Apple said its new iPhone 11 will come with two rear cameras, including an ultra wide angle lens and the next generation of microchips, the A13.

Prices start at $ 699, below last year's new iPhone that started at $ 749.

The most expensive iPhone 11 Pro will have three cameras on the back: wide angle, telephoto and ultra wide angle. You can create videos with all three rear cameras and the front camera at the same time and start at $ 999.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max with a larger screen starts at $ 1,099.

The new phones are available for orders on Friday and will begin shipping on September 20.

Rivals such as Huawei Technologies Co Ltd and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd already sell phones with three cameras on the back.

While Apple once tested the upper limits of what consumers would pay for a phone, it is now giving ground to prices, even making older models available with significant discounts to the latest technology.

"Consumers still care about cameras. That's why it was surprising in recent years that Samsung and Huawei made the leap to Apple," said Patrick Moorhead, an analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy.

"Apple was playing a bit to catch up, but Apple brought its game, particularly on the side of the camera video, where I think they will have the advantage."

Analysts expect Apple to sell around 200 million iPhones in the next year, in addition to other devices, and although many of them will be in China, it guarantees at least tens of millions of possible viewers for the subscription service.

Hal Eddins, chief economist for the shareholder of Apple Capital Investment Counsel, said Apple's lower-priced iPhones "aren't exciting on the surface, but the low transmission price can attract some new subscribers."

Apple shares gained 0.8 percent.

Crowded field

With content streaming, Apple is entering a crowded field dominated by Netflix Inc.

Walt Disney Co will launch on November 12 a service of $ 7 per month that will contain the iconic content for children of that firm. Apple is also trying to beat HBO Max with its hit shows like "Game of Thrones," "Friends," and "The Sopranos."

Apple's challenge is to persuade consumers that their family of devices, from their decoder to their phones, is the best place to watch programs.

"The launch of Apple's new subscription-based services paves the way for the introduction of new business models similar to packages of everything you can eat like Amazon Prime," said Paolo Pescatore, an analyst at PP Foresight.

"In the future, we could even see users pay for a service package and receive a new iPhone every year."

Apple also introduced an updated watch, Series 5, with a screen always on, starting at $ 399, while the previous Series 3 starts at $ 199. Moorhead said the previous model would conduct "tremendous" business.

Apple said the seventh generation of the iPad will start at $ 329 and will be available to order starting Tuesday and in stores on September 30.
