India said it has restored call facilities on post-paid cell phone connections in occupied Kashmir on Monday more than two months after it stripped the region of its semi-autonomous state and imposed a curfew and a communications blackout.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, government spokesman Rohit Kansal said at a press conference that all phones linked to a monthly subscription "will be restored and will be operational from noon on Monday," adding that the measure would apply to all districts. of occupied Kashmir. <\/p>\n

At that time, Kansal had not given any indication as to whether internet services would also be restored.<\/p>\n

"It is a relief," said Mohammad Akram, a merchant. However, he hastened to add how cashmere is expected to "thank the government for providing them with basic services."<\/p>\n

"They stopped telephones and internet services to prevent us from registering protests. They are now restoring these services to serve tourists and declare normalcy in Kashmir."<\/p>\n
