ISLAMABAD \u2013 Saturday Pakistan rejected a statement issued by the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Mayor Peshawar, distorting and misleading it.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe reject the compensation contained in a statement issued by the Afghan Foreign Ministry regarding the mayor of Peshawar. It is a pity that a distorted and misleading story about this issue and related incidents has been published, \u201dthe Foreign Ministry released a press release.<\/p>\n
The official response comes after Afghanistan closed its consulate in Peshawar on Friday indefinitely to protest the removal of the flag from a disputed property known as Afghan Market on Friday.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed: \u201cIt is pointed out that the market problem was between civilians and Afghanistan-based banks. This case was decided in favor of civilians in 1998. \u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cRecent local government enforcement measures have taken place after the Afghan government has exhausted legal remedies for this legal dispute. We reject comments that reject the claims of Pakistan's judicial process. \u201d<\/p>\n
"We regret the announcement that the Consulate-General of Afghanistan in Peshawar has now been closed in protest."<\/p>\n
Pakistan also hoped that Afghanistan's steps would be immediately reviewed and that judicial proceedings would not adversely affect the relationship between the two brother states.<\/p>\n
Afghan consul general Muhammad Has\u00adhim Niazi said in a press conference that "the police condemned the removal of the flag from the market and shut down the Consulate in Peshawar indefinitely."<\/p>\n
"The consulate was closed indefinitely in protest of the police and administration's unjust acts," Niazi quotes.<\/p>\n
He said removing the flag from an asset was a violation of diplomatic norms. As a result, Afghanistan's flag was again at the top of the market, and the Ambassador discussed the matter with the Foreign Ministry.<\/p>\n
Hasim Nyazi said the consul general raided the mayor Thursday and removed his flag despite warnings to reporters.<\/p>\n
