Google Stadia is expected to deliver great results considering that latency is one of the biggest problems with cloud gaming, because it's faster and more responsive than consoles and PCs.<\/p>\n
The delay is the time it takes for the player's press and its action to register in the game on the controller. Using Stadia, as well as other cloud gaming platforms, will increase latency because latency affects the game's ability to play. Product manager Khaled Abdel Rahman said at the annual Google I \/ O conference in May that latency is why the Stadia team is so focused.<\/p>\n
In an interview with Edge magazine, Madj Bakar's vice president of engineering expressed confidence in Stadia and his plans for service outages.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think ultimately, in a year or two, you'll have a game that runs faster and is more responsive in the cloud than locally, regardless of the performance of the local machine.<\/p>\n
The Stadia team aims to fulfill their promises with \u201cnegative latency\u201d that uses artificial intelligence to predict player behavior. This allows the cloud server to pre-render the next scene of the game, ready for loading when the player presses a button.<\/p>\n
Stadia is the idea that it pre-generates the next set of possible frames for the game in the cloud, and then displays only the frames chosen by the player. It's possible that players will choose a route that isn't included in the AI \u200b\u200bprediction, but on average, this system helps reduce service latency.<\/p>\n
This approach is available in Google's data centers, which is far more powerful than a console or PC. However, the actual implementation of the concept behind negative latency still remains, and it is only when it is enough to convince long-term consoles and PC players to switch to Stadia.<\/p>\n
Google offers Stadia Base, a 1080p, 60fps layer for free, but no access to free game releases of the service. For the full experience, you'll need a Stadia Pro subscription that offers 4K HDR image quality, 5.1 surround sound, and access to a free game library for $ 10 per month.<\/p>\n
