UNITED NATIONS: For the people of Kashmir, life under the brutal occupation of India is "to live in an armed cage in the silence of a cemetery," according to Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi, permanent representative of Pakistan to the United Nations.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the third committee of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, Ambassador Lodhi said that since August 5, when India annexed occupied Jammu and Kashmir, "a large number of children have been detained in night raids. the heartbreaking stories of widespread torture and arbitrary arrests, of how thousands, including children, have been taken from their homes, leaving no trace. He focused on the "grim reality" facing children in Kashmir occupied by India, under a repressive closure for more than two months, and called on the world community and UNICEF, the children's agency of the UN, to come in your help.<\/p>\n

The Third Committee, which deals with social, humanitarian and cultural affairs, held a debate this week on the advancement of women and Ms. Lodhi took advantage of the issue to urge United Nations diplomats to look more closely at the women and children living under foreign occupation. .<\/p>\n
