For its part, the PPP will conduct its own campaign against the government separately through Awami Rabita Muhim or a mass contact campaign.

This was declared by the president of the PPP, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, at the Bilawal House, while talking to reporters after a long-time meeting of the party's central committee. He said that, in principle, the party did not support the sit-in policy, although it supported the convening of the JUI-F, and noted that the space for protests and dissent was shrinking since Pakistan's Tehreek-i-Insaf arrived at Power last year.

He says the party will not participate in the protest, but will carry out its own mass contact campaign

"We have decided to support the JUI-F call and we will do our best to facilitate your [Maulana Fazl’s] protest in Islamabad, "he said." Our office bearers in different cities would welcome their caravans and support them for the march. We on the other side would keep our [mass contact] Campaign in and in the first phase of our Awami Rabita Muhim, we would hold a rally in Karachi on October 18 to commemorate the anniversary of Karsaz's carnage in 2007. Then we would enter Punjab and pass through different cities in the province. "

Bhutto-Zardari said: "Mainly, the PPP does not support the idea that no elected government or prime minister be expelled only on the basis of protests in the capital because it establishes a negative trend."

He added: “In democracy there is always a process to elect or overthrow a government. But unfortunately, this puppet government has eliminated all those options one after another. When there is no way to make changes through parliament, the judiciary, the electoral commission or the accountability body, the streets and the seats are left as the only option for political parties. "

In response to a question about his personal participation in the JUI-F protest in Islamabad, the PPP president said it would be "very difficult" to do so, although he offered support to Maulana Fazl on behalf of the PPP government in Sindh to facilitate the JUI-F workers on their trip to the capital.

Answering another question, Bhutto-Zardari called the policy of sitting against democratic norms. However, he hastened to justify the JUI-F protest, blaming the "incompetence" of the government for creating such opportunities.

He expressed confidence that Maulana Fazl led the protest march only for a better democratic culture and stability in the country.

“I firmly believe that Maulana Sahab is a true democratic man. He has a history of playing an active role in campaigns in favor of democracy and side with the true democratic forces. I can't even think that I would be doing all this after receiving any signal from any third force. "

The PPP leader mentioned several protest campaigns that are carried out throughout the country not only by political parties but also by other segments of society as a manifestation of "severe incompetence of the selected government that is more interested in appeasing its selectors. "

"It's not just PPP or PML-N or Maulana Fazlur Rehman; you see that everyone in this country is protesting. Whether it's merchants, workers, farmers, doctors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or the newly formed PTM, everyone is organizing protests against the government If the government itself keeps the doors of parliament closed, it prevents the opposition from starting any legislation business and throws the opposition leaders to jail, ultimately creating space for protests, ”he added.

Posted on Dawn, October 10, 2019

Source: https://www.dawn.com/news/1510022/ppp-to-facilitate-jui-fs-anti-govt-march-bilawal

KARACHI: After weeks of deliberations, meetings with the main opposition parties and consultations with several leaders, the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP) decided on Wednesday not to actively participate in the sit-in that the head of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI -F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman will take place in Islamabad on October 31.
