Multan police on Saturday arrested Mohammad Arif, a fugitive brother of the murdered celebrity of social networks Qandeel Baloch, with the help of Interpol, police officials said.<\/p>\n
SHO Mahar Bashir Hiraj said DawnNewsTV<\/em> that Arif has been handed over to the Muzaffarabad police station in Multan.<\/p>\n Arif had been declared a fugitive in the case of Baloch's murder, which had been strangled to death on July 15, 2016.<\/p>\n A day after the murder, another brother of Baloch, Mohammad Waseem, had admitted to the police that he had killed Qandeel because she "brought dishonor to the name Baloch" with her videos and risque statements on social media.<\/p>\n He had also said that his sister had a "bad character" as a social media model and that she had "no fault for killing her."<\/p>\n In addition, Waseem had told the court that his brother Mohammad Arif, who was in Saudi Arabia at the time, had asked him to kill Qandeel since he (Arif) felt ashamed because of his behavior. Arif had ordered Waseem to flee to Saudi Arabia after killing Baloch. <\/p>\n A trial court, on September 27, sentenced Waseem to life imprisonment, but acquitted five others, including a third brother, Aslam Shaheen, named in the case brought by Baloch's parents.<\/p>\n Waseem will serve his sentence at the Multan Central Prison.
