Sir William Ramsay is a Scottish chemist who discovered noble gas. Today (October 2, 2019), our doodle will honor Sir William Ramsey on his 167th birthday. Born in Glasgow on 1852, Sir Ramsay's work led to the breakthrough in thermodynamics and nuclear physics. Ramsay, described by many as \u201chis greatest chemical discoverer,\u201d became a fellow at the Royal Society in 1888, sent articles in 1902, and won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1904.<\/p>\n

  • He became professor of chemistry in 1879, two years before becoming head of the University of Bristol.\n<\/li>\n
  • In 1904 he won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry after discovering the noble gas.\n<\/li>\n
  • He has won numerous awards including the Smithsonian Institution, honorary doctorate from Dublin University and the Davy and Lonfstaff Medal.\n<\/li>\n
  • After graduating from Glasgow University and not receiving a degree, he entered the University of Heidelberg, but did not receive a degree. He attended a doctorate after attending\n<\/li>\n

  • In his "Essays in Electricity and Chemistry," some of his articles about science were published.\n<\/li>\n
  • He died in Buckinghamshire from nasal cancer in 1916.\n<\/li>\n
  • Ramsey was also famous for the discovery of argon, helium, neon, xenon and krypton.\n<\/li>\n
  • In his research, he was designed to remove oxygen and nitrogen from the air.\n<\/li>\n
