The JUI-F leader had alleged that the PPP had raised the issue of using the religion card simply to find an excuse to escape the protest.

Ahmed had said that when the PPP faced victimization despite creating a crack within the ranks of the opposition to appease certain forces, party leaders went to Maulana Fazlur Rehman and asked him to launch a campaign against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government.

When contacted, Bokhari said some members of Sindh's JUI-F had contacted Sherry Rehman, PPP parliamentary leader in the Senate in Karachi, while the opposition Rahbar Committee coordinator and the JUI leader -F, Akram Durrani, they had contacted him by phone.

The PPP leader said that since the JUI-F currently headed the Rahbar Committee, he could convene the meeting to resolve the issues instead of making the differences between the parties public. He said it was Maulana Fazlur Rehman who had hosted previous MPCs and that he could also call another MPC on the subject.

"We are open to dialogue," Bokhari said, adding that the PPP was still ready to deliberate on the anti-government protest mode, as they had also decided to fight against the current rulers.

The sources said that the relationship between the JUI-F and the PPP became sour when he refused to participate in the long march and proposed an indefinite sitting by the JUI-F. The sources said that the leadership of the JUI-F was also unhappy about certain comments made by the president of the PPP, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, about his long planned march.

They said that the leaders of the JUI-F had taken a serious note of Bhutto-Zardari's statements during his press conference last week that he was not participating in the JUI-F protest sitting since he did not want to become in a "maulvi". & # 39 ;.

Speaking at a press conference after chairing a meeting of the central party committee in Islamabad on September 19, Bhutto-Zardari had ruled out the possibility of joining the long march.

“I don't want to do dharna policy. I want to do Shaheed Benazir Bhutto's policy. Why do you want me to become a maulvi? ”, The PPP president had said in response to a question about why the party was escaping from the JUI-F anti-government protest.

Bhutto-Zardari said he had already announced the "moral support" of his party for the long march of the JUI-F. He said how he could believe that military leadership would not play the same role he had played during the PNA (Pakistan National Alliance) movement that led to the imposition of martial law in 1977.

The PPP president had declared that he had asked certain questions before the Maulana before making a decision on participation in the long march, but so far he had not received any response.

Posted on Dawn, September 24, 2019

Source: https://www.dawn.com/news/1507013/ppp-wants-another-mpc-to-discuss-jui-fs-long-march

ISLAMABAD: Expressing his discontent over the criticism of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) to the Party of Peoples of Pakistan (PPP) on the issue of the long march, the latter has asked to convene another multi-party conference (MPC ) to discuss the possibilities of launching a full-scale anti-government protest campaign from the joint opposition platform.
