The Islamic Cooperation Organization (ICO) on Sunday expressed its "total rejection" of the Israeli Prime Minister's pre-election promise to annex part of the West Bank, Saudi state media said.<\/p>\n
Struggling to win reelection in the polls on Tuesday, Benjamin Netanyahu made a very controversial promise last week to annex the strategic Jordan Valley, which accounts for about a third of the occupied West Bank.<\/p>\n
He also repeated his intention to annex the Israeli settlements in the West Bank, but in coordination with the president of the United States, Donald Trump.<\/p>\n
Have a look:<\/strong> Does Trump and Netanyahu have a mutually beneficial relationship?<\/em><\/p>\n After an emergency meeting of foreign ministers in the city of Jeddah in the Red Sea, the OCI expressed "his total rejection and his strong condemnation of the declaration of the Israeli prime minister."<\/p>\n "This dangerous statement … deliberately undermines international efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace … and pushes the entire region towards greater violence and instability," the 57-member pan-Islamic body said in a statement released by the media Saudi state .<\/p>\n The emergency meeting of the OIC Foreign Ministers was convened at the request of Saudi Arabia, which has unilaterally condemned Netanyahu's promise as a "dangerous escalation."<\/p>\n The multilateral declaration comes when the Netanyahu government approved a new agreement in the occupied West Bank on Sunday.<\/p>\n The Israeli cabinet agreed to convert the wild settlement of Mevoot Yericho in the Jordan Valley into an official settlement, the prime minister's office said.<\/p>\n Netanyahu's movements could essentially destroy any remaining hope for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.<\/p>\n His promise to annex the Jordan Valley has resulted in the firm condemnation of the Palestinians, the United Nations, the European Union and the Arab states.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/pre>\n<\/pre>\n Source: https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1505376\/oic-foreign-ministers-reject-netanyahu-annexation-pledge<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Islamic Cooperation Organization (ICO) on Sunday expressed its "total rejection" of the Israeli Prime Minister's pre-election promise to annex part of the West Bank, Saudi state media said.
