LODHRAN: There seems to be no relief in cases of police torture in the province, as another police officer took action Friday after a video went viral and showed him torturing a man in the area of Jalla Arain police station. <\/p>\n

A video went viral on social media, showing Assistant Assistant Inspector (ASI) Mukhtiar Masood of the Jalla Arain Police Station torturing a man, identified as Jawan Mard, against whom a complaint was registered at the police station. Jawan was being tortured at the author's house in the presence of a large number of people. <\/p>\n

According to a source, ASI Mukhtiar had arrested Jawan and taken him to the plaintiff's house where local people had also met. <\/p>\n

When ASI Mukhtiar started hitting Jawan Mard with a stick, some of the people present tried to stop him. <\/p>\n

ASI arrested for torturing a man in the plaintiff's house <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

You see a man who tells ASI: "Don't torture him here. The boys are making videos. You can do (with him) whatever you want at the police station, but don't hit him here." <\/p>\n

Lodhran District Police Officer Malik Jameel Zafar arrived at the Jalla Arain Police Station and took action against ASI Mukhtiar. He filed a first information report (FIR) against Mukhtiar and arrested him. <\/p>\n

After taking action, the DPO said Dawn<\/em> A FIR had been registered against Mukhtiar under the Police Order and he had been arrested. "Although the incident took place more than two months ago, I now know and took quick action against him (ASI)." <\/p>\n

DPO Zafar said that no one, including a police officer, was above the law and that anyone who has committed a crime will face actions. <\/p>\n

An investigation was also initiated into the incident under the investigations of Lodhran SP Syed Abbas.<\/p>\n
