ISLAMABAD – In line with the austerity measures, the federal cabinet has decided not to pay two months’ salaries.<\/p>\n
A meeting chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was held to approve the country’s austerity policy.<\/p>\n
The meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of all four states and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Azad through video link.<\/p>\n
At the meeting, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb briefed participants on austerity measures. We were briefed on the need to conserve petroleum products in light of the global situation and on government-level austerity measures.<\/p>\n
The meeting also discussed proposals to provide relief to deserving poor citizens. Shehbaz Sharif ordered a national austerity policy to be drawn up in consultation with local governments.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
