Prime Minister Imran Khan announced Friday that Sikh pilgrims arriving from India to visit Kartarpur will no longer need a passport to cross into Pakistan as long as they have a valid identity. <\/p>\n
In a tweet on Friday morning, the prime minister also announced that he had ordered that the condition for pilgrims to register 10 days before their arrival at the Kartarpur sanctuary also does not apply.<\/p>\n
The prime minister also announced that pilgrims arriving on the day of the opening of the Kartarpur corridor and the 550th anniversary of the birth of Baba Guru Nanak will not be charged any fees for the visit.<\/p>\n After tough negotiations between Islamabad and New Delhi, Pakistan and India finally signed an agreement last month paving the way for the inauguration of the Kartarpur corridor this month before the 550th anniversary of the birth of the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev. <\/p>\n The four-kilometer long corridor, which will open on November 9, will provide pilgrims with a visa-free link between Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur and the Dera Baba Nanak sanctuary in the Indian Punjab.
