Bombardier's Northern Ireland division was sold to the US company Spirit AeroSystems in a deal worth about \u00a3 1 billion.<\/p>\n

The Canadian company sold its plant in May as part of its business reorganization.<\/p>\n

Aerospace manufacturers employ about 3,600 people in Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n

Headquartered in Kansas, Spirit is a major supplier of Airbus and Boeing. Earlier this year, the company said it wanted to do more for Airbus.<\/p>\n

Bombardier's purchase of Operation Northern Ireland is part of that strategy.<\/p>\n

The wings of the Airbus A220 are made at the Bombardier Belfast factory and also supply other Airbus components, especially the engine cover. <\/p>\n

Spirit is also buying repair facilities in Morocco and the United States, the Bombardier factory.<\/p>\n

Analysis: strategic purchase of Spirit<\/h2>\n

The Bombardier workforce in Northern Ireland has suffered years of cuts and uncertainties.<\/p>\n

At some point, the Canadian company was on the verge of bankruptcy.<\/p>\n

New owners of Belfast operations must bring stability to the workforce and a long-term focus on business.<\/p>\n

This is a strategic purchase by Spirit. Belfast sees it as a key part of their plans to do more with Airbus.<\/p>\n

The union is pleased that the business went to trade buyers, not private equity.<\/p>\n

The agreement that Spirit pays $ 500 million and acquires $ 700 million in debt, including pension commitments, is expected to end in the first half of 2020.<\/p>\n

Michael Ryan, chief operating officer of Bombardier's aviation structure, said it will be updated on how employees are making timely impacts.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cWe are pleased that Spirit, the world's first-tier aviation manufacturer and supplier, recognized its unique products and growth potential.<\/p>\n

ADS, the UK's trade organization representing the aerospace industry, said: \u201cAs the future of work is ensured, the exceptional workforce of Belfast facilities will now continue to use world-class expertise and skills as an integral part. Aerospace industry<\/p>\n

The agreement will be strategic for aerospace component maker Spirit, unlike Boeing, which will diversify its customer base, analysts said.<\/p>\n

      The business is part of Bombardier's plan to discontinue its commercial aviation business to focus on profitable business jet and rail operations.<\/p>\n

      The Belfast plant will remain the main supplier of Bombardier's business jet program.<\/p>\n

      "Spirit will continue to supply structural aircraft components and spare parts to support vehicles in production and in service of Bombardier Aviation's Learjet, Challenger and Global fleet of aircraft."<\/p>\n

      This contract has been widely welcomed by politicians and people of the business community. <\/p>\n

      Unity's sale has given hopes for a positive future for Bombardier workers in Northern Ireland, and GMB's union said it will seek talks with spirit executives to "get a guarantee on jobs, conditions and pensions." .<\/p>\n

      Based in Montreal, Bombardier has more than 68,000 employees in 28 countries, and the Belfast plant is Northern Ireland's largest high-tech manufacturer.<\/p>\n

      Last year, we reported quarterly profit decline as production in the Global 7500 business increased.
