The students of Baluchistan University continued their protest on Wednesday for the 17th consecutive day against the alleged harassment and blackmail of several students. <\/p>\n
The protesting students have demanded that the authorities arrest the former vice chancellor, who resigned after the scandal, and other suspects allegedly involved in the issue. They have also called for the restoration of the student union and the elimination of FC checkpoints in the university.<\/p>\n
The case had come to light last month when the Baluchistan High Court (BHC) ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to investigate reports of students harassed on the university team.<\/p>\n
Rights activist Jibran Nasir joined the students protesting today. The activist, while addressing the protesters at the university, expressed his solidarity with them. He stressed the need for unity among students and urged the university student bodies to unite to restore student union. <\/p>\n On Tuesday, the FIA \u200b\u200bhad submitted its investigative report on the charges of blackmail and harassment to the president of the BHC.<\/p>\n The FIA \u200b\u200basked BHC President Jamal Khan Mandhokhail not to make the report public until the investigation is complete. The president of the court accepted the request.<\/p>\n However, the highest judge of BHC shared the report with the members of the special committee of the Balochistan Assembly constituted by the president of the assembly, Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo, at the request of the treasury and the members of the opposition about the scandal. The president of the BHC also emphasized the need to keep the report confidential.<\/p>\n "This is a case of our province, this is a case of our children studying in Balochistan," said the president of the court, adding that it is necessary to restore the confidence of the students in the institution. <\/p>\n \u201cPeople and political parties should rely heavily on national institutions. Strict measures will surely be taken against people allegedly involved in sexual harassment and the video scandal. Measures will be taken in all areas.
