Facebook is stepping up its security on the 2020 US elections on Monday and stepping up its investigation into the "state control" press to manipulate US voters.<\/p>\n

This move adds to a series of actions in major social networks since foreign companies have joined social media in social media in the US campaign since 2016.<\/p>\n

Facebook President Zackberg said, "Elections have changed significantly since 2016, and Facebook has changed."<\/p>\n

"We are facing more and more sophisticated attacks from the nation-states, but we are confident that we are more prepared now."<\/p>\n

One of the new phases will require message labeling from the state control media outlets starting next month.<\/p>\n

"This page will maintain higher transparency standards because it combines the media organization's decision-making impact with the country's strategic support," the Facebook blog post said.<\/p>\n

Facebook also said it would use the "pop-up" that people see when third-party fact checkers try to post to legitimate Instagram, which will prevent the spread of misinformation.<\/p>\n

"In addition to clear labels, we are taking quicker steps to prevent false information from getting infected by viruses, especially if quality reporting and fact checking take time."<\/p>\n

"In many countries, including the United States, third-party fact verifiers temporarily reduce pending distribution if there is a signal that the content is false."<\/p>\n

Facebook said it is monitoring accounts for hacking or theft while offering new protections for accounts of political candidates. It also outlined steps to protect against "no voting", including an effort to mislead people about where and when to vote.<\/p>\n

In a related development process, Facebook said it removed four separate account networks for "uncoordinated behavior" on Facebook and Instagram in Russia and Iran.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of this has created an account network that has made us misleading about who and what others are doing,\u201d said Facebook's cyber security officer Nathaniel Gleicher.<\/p>\n

Three of these groups started in Iran, one in Russia, and targeted users in the United States, North Africa and Latin America.<\/p>\n

Facebook used one of the Russian groups to write a covert identity, saying, \u201cOn both sides of political issues, including topics such as US elections, environmental issues, racial tensions, LGBTQ issues, political candidates, alliance thoughts, conservatism and liberalism.
