On Thursday, a court of sessions in Lahore imposed on a man two death sentences, life imprisonment and a fine of Rs700,000 for raping and murdering a child.<\/p>\n
Bism Nazim was arrested for raping and murdering a seven-year-old boy in 2017 and had been detained in the Kot Lakhpat prison in Lahore for the past two years. He was arrested by police from the scene of the crime and a case was registered against him at the Sherakot police station. <\/p>\n
The state prosecutor, in his arguments, told the judge that the witnesses and the evidence against Nazim had been presented to the court.<\/p>\n
Additional session judge Sajawal Khan announced the death penalty. <\/p>\n
According to a report issued by the Sahil children's rights organization in September, at least seven children are abused daily in Pakistan. The report revealed that from January to June of the current year, 1,304 cases of sexual abuse of children have been reported by the media in the country.<\/p>\n
The report says that data from January to June 2019 reveal that 729 girls and 575 boys became victims of sexual exploitation. Cases in the main categories included 378 kidnapping, 139 rape, 153 sodomy, 46 group rape, 88 band sodomy, while 12 boys and four girls have been killed after sexual abuse.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/pre>\n<\/pre>\n
