On Saturday, an accountability court in Karachi issued non-bail arrest warrants for 12 fugitives, including family members of the president of the Sindh Assembly, Agha Siraj Durrani, in a reference against the speaker and others suspected of accumulating assets for more than 1.61 billion rupees by illegal means.<\/p>\n
Durrani, a high-ranking leader of the PPP, was arrested by the National Responsibility Office (NAB) of an Islamabad hotel on February 20 of this year for an investigation into a case of assets beyond the media. <\/p>\n
NAB is examining Durrani's movable and immovable property, 352 allegedly illegal appointments he made, and his alleged embezzlement of public funds in the construction of the MPA shelter and the new Sindh Assembly building, as well as the appointment of project managers for these Schemes<\/p>\n
During the process today, the court asked the investigating officer what measures had been taken against the fugitives and if they had been notified, to which the OI responded affirmatively.<\/p>\n
The court also ordered that all fugitives' CNIC cards be blocked and their arrest warrants issued. Durrani's wife, Naheed Durrani, his son, Agha Shahbaz Durrani and four daughters are among the 12 suspects for whom arrest warrants were issued.<\/p>\n
In addition, the court ordered the investigating officer to take action against the fugitives and submit a report.<\/p>\n
The procedure was postponed until October 22.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/pre>\n<\/pre>\n
