Sumit Nagal is an Indian tennis player. He gained fame when he made his grand slam debut against Roger Federer. He is also the sixth Indian to win the Junior Grand Slam.<\/p>\n

Summit Nagar was born Saturday, August 16, 1997 (22 years old, as of 2019)<\/strong> In Jharjar, Haryana, he received primary education at Little Angels Senior Secondary School in Jhajjar, Haryana, and Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya, Paschim Vihar, New Delhi. Sumit has been interested in cricket since childhood. His father wanted him to do something else but he persuaded him to play tennis. Sumit tried the sport and loved it. As his love for tennis grew, he started playing tennis regularly. His school coach also appreciated his game and advised his father to have Sumit professional training.<\/p>\n

Sumit was 10 years old when Mahesh Bhupathi, along with other international tennis players, started hunting for talent to find, train and produce India's first single grand slam winner by 2018. Mission 2018<\/strong>. Summit's father took him to Bangalore to participate in this event. More than 5,000 students participated in this event, and Sumit was one of the youngest players. He got a chance to play before Mahesh Bhupathi and was selected for the program along with two other participants.<\/p>\n

Mahesh Bhupathi trained him for two years. Sumit also received tips and advice from many international players who participated in the Mission 2018 program. Two years later, the program ended for some reason. Mahesh Bhupathi stopped training but financially supported Sumit. Canadian tennis player and coach Bobby Mahal watched a Sumit match and invited him to Canada to train and coach him. Sumit's family could not afford to send him to Canada, but Mahesh Bhupathi managed the cost of travel and accommodation in Canada. Sumit was educated with Bobby Mahal from 2008 to 2014. I also started a junior event and started rising from the point table.<\/p>\n

Bhupathi became the manager and mentor of Sumit. He gave advice on how to play, the events to participate in, and how to increase your ranking in the point table. Summit has participated in many junior tournaments and won many competitions. In 2015, he won the match in Vietnam with L\u00fd Ho\u00e0ng Nam, a Vietnamese tennis star for the boys' doubles title. His first Junior Grand Slam victory made him the sixth Indian in a Junior Grand Slam event.<\/p>\n

In 2015, Sumit turned pro. He debuted in India at the 2016 Davis Cup and performed very well. People watched him and many celebrated his amazing performances. In 2019, Sumit participated in a grand slam event for the first time. On August 26, 2019, he qualified for the US Open and made his debut with Roger Federer. He became the first Indian in the game against Roger Federer. After the game, Roger Federer praised Sumit.<\/p>\n
